Mehfil, an informal soiree, an 'art-party' most commonly held in a home.
The Mehfil will be held in Aston by the Voice of Aston a local community group.
Aston by definition is recognised for its social deprivation (social and economic problems), communities at risk of ‘social exclusion' (not being able to take part fully in society because of, for example, poverty, prejudice or isolation) and limited cultural opportunities. The arts event and workshops will benefit the community and contribute to the local development of the arts. Our objectives are to give local individuals and small groups the opportunity to express themselves through art and appreciate art; to provide free musical instrument workshops. Thus enabling and empowering local talent to perform on a platform. The philosophy of Voice of Aston Mehfil is to educate and entertain. We will offer an opportunity for people of all ages and background to be involved in the workshops and the mehfil.
